Frank, the bottle surgeon, is a retired electrician and Lori, the glass gal, is a retired banking executive turned lifestyle designer.
There’s one company on St Croix that has made a nice business out of recycling! Our good friends Lori and Frank Hirons’ company, “Bottles Reimagined”, takes empty rum (and other) bottles and creates candles, glasses, and other lovely things from them!
Bottles Reimagined began on St. Croix in March 2015. Research showed that restaurants and bars were simply throwing out the bottles. St. Croix is home to two rum factories: Cruzan Rum and Captain Morgan – so locals and visitors alike consume and discard an untold number of liquor bottles each year.
After some experimentation, a viable business opportunity arose in taking these bottles and creating beautiful, upcycled drinking glasses and more from them. Bottles Reimagined was born, and Frank and Lori took over the business in January of 2017. And while the focus is on using the Cruzan Rum bottles, they are also creating glasses from Grey Goose, Skyy, and other assorted liquor bottles. They constantly review the line to make sure they are bringing you the best they can create, and that includes new and different scents and colors for their candles!
