Christmas in St Croix

As you might imagine, Christmas in the Caribbean has a very different “vibe” to it than Christmas on the mainland, where it is cold and maybe even snowy. So for this holiday long weekend, I took the afternoon off on Friday and a girlfriend and I hung out at the beach and swam in the ocean. It was refreshing and invigorating! I met my fella at a local restaurant for dinner where we had an amazing meal and wine!

Then on Saturday, my significant other and I had a relaxing day at the house, and enjoyed Bloody Marys on our porch enjoying the fantastic weather and amazing views of Buck Island. For dinner, we went to a local outdoor bar/restaurant and met some new friends and dodged a brief rain shower. We got wet, but it didn’t matter. That, too, was refreshing and invigorating!

Christmas eve we joined a bunch of dear friends for lunch and hanging out at their pool. We had a lot of laughs and enjoyed a beautiful rainbow in addition to the delightful “Christmas winds.” Other friends joined us at our home for dinner, and we grilled steaks and sat on our porch again and enjoyed the weather.

This morning, I’m off to fix bacon and eggs (a rare treat at our house!), and then we’ll head to the beach for a few hours. I’ll do some baking and cooking, then off to my daughters for a party with her friends.

Not your traditional Christmas – but really, really good. Wouldn’t have it any other way!!!
