If you follow us on Facebook, we’ve been sharing all the good press that “the Fred,” St Croix’s newest boutique hotel, has been getting lately! Their opening was delayed a bit by Maria, but they are open now, let me tell you – this place is AMAZING! First of all, the check in experience is delightful! We were warmly greeted and the staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The attention to detail is apparent from the moment you step in the door, and that continued throughout our stay. They are currently offering tremendous discounts – rooms are about 1/3 what they will be when the property is finished.
The lobby is bold and beautiful. Homemade cookies (to die for) were waiting for us; I must say we probably took more than our fair share. They were SOO good!
We were “upgraded” to a beautiful room in the “love shack” – which is the closest room to the ocean. The views from there are amazing, and the room is beautifully appointed. The bed and pillows were ultra-comfortable and the linens were the best! I think they even plan to sell them there. And believe me; you’ll want to buy some!
The soaps, shampoos and towels are luscious and the mini fridge is stocked with everything you can imagine, including Rasta popcorn (my favorite)! Not one detail has been overlooked – nor expense spared – to make your stay at the Fred memorable and outstanding.
We also treated ourselves to a massage and hair cut at Fred’s spa. Both were outta this world…we’ll make the long journey from east to west (about a 45 min. drive) to repeat these experiences!
The hurricanes have, of course, set things back a bit; the pool(s) are not finished, and some rooms are still under construction. BUT….the current rates reflect that – and even though the place is unfinished, we felt we got an INCREDIBLE bargain for our stay there. Totally worth it even unfinished!
