ST CROIX RENTAL MARKET

If you have plans to rent something in St Croix before you buy, you may have missed the boat. The rental market is CRAZY right now on the island! There’s hardly ANYTHING to rent, and the prices have skyrocketed due to the high demand and low inventory. We have many workers on island to rebuild and repair damage from the storms. Your best bet will likely be to search on airbnb, VRBO, or craigslist, but BE CAREFUL on craigslist! There are many scams there! If it looks too good to be true, it probably is! Have a friend on island check out rentals you find and are interested in on craigslist, and if you don’t have a friend here, consider those of us here at St Croix Island Life your friends! We don’t want you to get ripped off!

Keep in mind, any rental LESS THAN three months is considered a vacation rental, and there are several companies that handle vacation rentals. In addition to those listed above, Champagne Vacation rentals, Vacation St Croix, Enjoy St Croix, StCroixForRent.com, and others (google Short term rentals in St Croix USVI) all offer short term rental options. Most real estate companies can help you with a long term (3 months or longer) rental. Keep in mind that if you have a pet, finding a rental will be EXTRA difficult. We love our furry babies too, but it sure makes finding a rental here much more complicated, and more expensive for you as well.

Right now, you can expect to pay $1000 per month for a small place to rent, and the price goes up exponentially if you are looking for waterfront, proximity to beach, nice amenities….IF you can even find something. Please do your bookings as far in advance as you can; we want you to come and be happy here! Things will settle down here in a year or so, but in the meantime, finding a good rental property is a challenge for all of us. The answer? Consider BUYING a rental property!
