Other Places to Stay

Inn on Strand (formerly the Frederiksted Hotel) – Great location, right on Strand St in town, and of course right across from the water. Walk everywhere in town!

Cottages by the Sea – Great bungalows right on the best beach on the island! Not “fancy” – but very functional and fun!

Sandcastles by the Beach – Under new management – and with a nice ambiance, great restaurant, and wonderful staff. The beach there is simply amazing

Caribbean Breeze Apts & Vacation Rentals – A few blocks back from the beach, this place feels like your own tropical oasis – and now has a pool, too!

Restaurants

The LA Cafe is a long running establishment on the west end. Home of the famous “Dirty Banana” drink, this is an authentic “Cruzian” bar. Why is it named the LA Cafe, you might ask? The proprietor used to live in LA and was a chef for one of the airlines headquartered there. He goes by several names…we know him as “Bert.” He’s a delight and there’s nothing more I enjoy than making him laugh. He has the best laugh in the world!!
domino club girls_preview The Domino Club, which is in the rainforest, has also reopened. Here, you can mingle with some REAL beer drinking pigs! Fun spot – and a photo MUST on your tour of the West!
Louie and Nacho’s Beach Bar – One of Frederiksted’s new spots – overlooking the most beautiful turquoise water in the world! The restaurant has been totally redesigned and remodeled to take advantage of the beautiful views and to give their excellent wait staff full access to all the patrons. The service is great! Creative and delicious tacos and other flavorful dishes compliment the great setting. And I’d like to point out that they started this endeavor a couple of months before the storms. It would have been pretty easy to just pack it up and leave – but they hung in – helped out – and are now hopefully going to be rewarded with a loyal following!
TapDeck  Tap Deck Bar & Billiards – A little to the south of town, upstairs above Molly’s Polly’s and Franklin’s – you’ll find the Tap Deck bar, home of several great beers on tap, scrumptious tapas, and refreshing and creative mixed drinks. Live music is featured occasionally, and pool tables afford some entertainment as well. This bar has some nice views, too, and has what many are looking for….AIR CONDITIONING!
lost_dog Lost Dog – No visit to Frederiksted is complete without grabbing a beer from the Lost Dog. The home of the original Dog was badly damaged in the hurricane – but the bar only had to move a couple of doors down to find their new home. Only drinks for now – hopefully they will be back to making good pizza soon!
Pollys Polly’s at the Pier is a great spot to catch breakfast or lunch, or an early afternoon Chocolate frappe (yep – Guilty… they are to die for!!). Always fresh ingredients served with a big smile!
beachside-cafe The Beachside Cafe is now open and serving delicious things from their grill (limited menu, but good!). The bar is open as well. Wonderful place to grab a drink and watch the sunset!
turtles_deli Turtles Deli is just down the street from the Fred and just below Louie and Nacho’s – and they serve amazing deli sandwiches and salads, right on the beach.
VillaMorales Villa Morales – just a little east of Frederiksted is one great “mom and pop” restaurant with the best breaded shrimp I’ve ever tasted! The owners, Angie and JT, are pillars of the Frederiksted community and masters of Puerto Rican cuisine! Only open Thursday – Saturday, don’t miss it!
rythms Rhythms at Rainbow Beach – This is the quintessential “beach bar” – with great food and drinks (try the “Lime in de Coconut!”), volleyball, jet skis, and all sorts of other fun things to do on a beautiful beach just north of town.

Retail Stores

You’ll find four SCUBA shops in Frederiksted, all are great! Mollys/SCUBA West, Cane Bay Dive Shop, N2 the Blue, and Adventures in Diving. Guaranteed you’ll leave your diving experience with new friends and great memories, no matter which diving outfit you choose!

Susan Mango (Pier 69 courtyard) – Susan Connant just opened her shop in the Pier 69 Courtyard and what a bright spot it is! So much colorful island wear and fabulous fabrics. Susan is also a fantastic designer (Design on a Dime Interiors….check her out on Facebook!), and one of the nicest, most fun people I’ve met in a long time!

Franklin’s on the Waterfront is a classy little shop with yummy things for your home and body! Great candles, wonderful kitchen items, cool jewelry, and other treasures.
