Frederiksted

Frederiksted is home to many historic buildings, a stunning waterfront, and the pier where the cruise ships dock. This town is undergoing a bit of a Renaissance, with developers buying the older buildings and refurbishing them. But still, much of the area looks (and is) economically depressed. This may change radically in the next 10 years. There’s a saying here ‘West is best” – and the folks who live there love it.

The water is beautiful, calm, and the community is tight knit and laid back. The west end of the island is wetter (the rainforest is there), and vegetation is more lush. It looks like a tropical island there. There are many historical homes as well as commercial buildings here.
