Margaret began her career in the real estate business in 1983 in Massachusetts, while she was a full-time science teacher. She balanced teaching during the week and building a successful real estate career on nights and weekends. In 1986 she moved to the U.S. Virgin Islands, where she continued teaching and sold luxury properties on St. John and St. Croix. She retired from teaching in 2012 and now sells real estate. She has a B.A. in biology from Salem State University in Massachusetts and has continued her education at Harvard University and the University of Massachusetts. Outside of real estate, Margaret is a proud mother and grandmother, and she has spent much of the past 25 years traveling the world to play and teach chess through the International Chess Federation (FIDE). She has been heavily involved in various commissions and leadership position as part of FIDE, including instructor, arbiter, member of the Executive Board, and an international organizer. This international experience has enhanced her ability to strategize, negotiate, and effectively manage crises, and it has also increased her cultural sensitivity.
